Colorado High School Boys T&F 2023 Athletes of the Year

CTS’ Boys T&F HS athletes of the year of 2023 was a difficult one.  In the following CTS will give you the gold-silver-bronze winners.  CTS will also give you athletes that made or improved on their top-10 marks.

GOLD, Tavon Underwood, senior at Mead HS was the clear winner as his #1 CTS 400 meters time of 45.36 at the State 4A track meet.  To add to that he sprinted 20.93 +0.8w for the #5 time 200 meters in the CTS listings.  He showed range by running 1:51.97 800 meters #22 CTS, all three of these times were run at the Colorado State HS Meet in May, all first places!  Will be attending Kansas State U.

SILVER, Brandon Hill, senior at Vista Ridge HS accomplished the number two position with his 24-8 +0.0w long jump, which is the #2 CTS mark in the event, at the Colorado State 5A Meet.  At the State meet he ran in the sprints and was very successful there as well.  He was first in the 100 meters in 10.52 +0.9w (#13t CTS), and second in the 200 meters 21.12 +0.0w (#12 CTS).  Will be attending Washington State U.  (football)

BRONZE, Cameron Thomas, senior at Windsor HS knocked down the #3 position by Pole Vaulting 17-0 at the Longmont Invite.  That mark is the #4 CTS mark for this event.  Thomas was undefeated in the State this year, indoors and outdoors.  Will be attending Virginia Military Institute.

Top-10 marks made in 2023 in the CTS High School lists.

Peyton Sommers, sophomore at Cherokee Trail HS.  #7 400 meters 46.77, #10t 100-meters 10.50 +1.2w.  He also had a #11 200-meter time of 21.10 +0.0w.  The next two years just might be very interesting.                                            Shalon Trowbridge, senior at Grand Junction Central HS.  #7 800 meters 1:50.34.   Will be attending Colo. Mines    Miller Jones, senior at Grand Junction HS.  #7 triple jump 50-5.  Will be attending Colo. Mesa Univ.                        Daniel Baroumbaye, senior at Grand Junction Central HS.  #8 discus throw 194-11.  He also had a 60-0 shot put.  Will be attending Colorado State U.                                                                                                                                                    Dane Eike, junior at Valor Christian HS.  #9 mile 4:07.65, #5 1500 meters 3:50.80, #10 2-mile 8:55.62 converted from 3200 meter 8:52.51.                                                                                                                                                                      Scottie Vines, junior at DeBeque HS. #9t high jump 7-0.  Undefeated in Colorado in 2023.                                                 Zachary Ryan, senior at Northfield HS.  #9 400 meters 46.79.
