Colorado Soil Best Marks for 2023

CTS 2023 Men’s Athletes of the year for marks made on Colorado Soil.

GOLD, Wes Ferguson from Nebraska Kearney U. at the NCAA Division II Championships in Pueblo, CO blazed the 800 meters in 1:45.46.  That is the #1 mark for the event bettering the old mark by over a second.  Thomas Staines held the old mark of 1:46.52 in 2022 at the Spank Blasing Invite.

SILVER, Cordell Tinch from Pittsburg State U. hurdled in the semi at the NCAA II Championships in the 110-meter hurdles to a #1 Soil Record of 13.21 +1.7w.  This mark bettered one of the oldest soil records on the books.  In 1978 at the US Olympic Festival at the Air Force Academy, Kerry Bethel from Essax CC hurdled 13.45 +1.6w.  Tinch in the final flew over the hurdles in 12.87 +6.0w!  That mark is tied for the 4th fastest under all conditions World all-time.  Tinch had another top-10 CTS Soil mark in the Long Jump #5 with a 26-9 1/4 +1.1w at the NCAA’s.

BRONZE, Sam Parsons running for the Tinman Elite TC ran the fastest auto timed mile mark of 4:00.08, at the Potts Indoor Invite in Boulder, CO.  Only Oliver Hoare (3:56.8h) and Joe Klecker (3:58.6h) have run faster on Colorado Soil.  Both were running for the On Athletics Club in 2020.

CTS 2023 Women’s Athletes of the year for marks made on Colorado Soil.

GOLD, Lindsay Cunningham from Winona State U. at the NCAA Division II Championships became the 10000-meter #1 Colorado Soil record holder in 33:55.79.  That took over the previous mark of 34:50.16 from Kristen Zaitz running unattached at the Jerry Quailler Classic in 2015.  Cunningham at the same meet achieved the #4 mark in the 5000 meters with a 16:23.08 time.  She beat Brianna Robles from Adams State U. in both races.  Robles moved into #2 in the 10000 meters (34:08.25) and #5 in the 5000 meters (16:25.42).

SILVER, Kaela Edwards (Littleton HS) running for Apex Athletics, captured the #3 Mile time on Colorado Soil.  Running almost in total darkness at the Mile High Mile in Boulder Co., Edwards, I think could have gone faster if she could have seen the track just a little bit better.

BRONZE, Khayla Dawson throwing unattached at the Doug Max Invite in Fort Collins, Co., put out a #5, 59-4 Shot Put.  That mark was a #10 USA women’s mark for 2023.

In the Colorado Track Stats Colorado Soil lists for 2023 there were eleven men’s marks and eighteen for the women that made the top-10 standings.

Have fun checking out the Soil marks and GOD Bless
