Recent Colorado Track and Field Stats

New #1’s !!

Wow two #1’s !!

Maria Mettler of the Air Force Academy and former Air Academy High School Grad dropped a 32:09.37 10k in San Juan Capistrano, CA at the ‘THE TRACK MEET‘ Saturday December 5th.  This mark moved her to the #1 Colorado University/College 10k best list, bettering the mark of Jaci Smith also from the Air Force Academy in 2018 of 32:28.15.  She was in the first heat of two womens’10000 meter races.  She won the heat and beat former CU Buff Carrie Verdon who was running for Team Boulder.  This was a close one as Verdons’ time was 32:09.82.  Mettler with her mark here also moved to #6 in the Colorado After High School best list.  This heat also had many Colorado based runners.

As big as was Mettler’s mark was,  in the following heat Natosha Rogers running for Hansons-Brooks ODP and formally of Dakota Ridge High School dropped a 31:12.28 to place 5th in a highly contested race won by Rachel Schneider in 31:09.79.  Roger’s time moved her to #1 for the Colorado After High School best list!!  Her mark took down the former Olympic and World participant, Elva Dryer and past Durango High School Grad and Western Colorado University All American.  Dryers time was 31:21.92 in 2005.  In the race as in the other fast heat where many Colorado based runners. Four heats of men and women were run.

The day before on Friday December 4th, six heats of the 5000 meters were run.  As in the 10k many Colorado based runners participated.  Many made the Colorado University/College list as well as the Colorado After High School best list.  Check out the ‘THE TRACK MEET‘ results to see all the Colorado based runners.

On December 5th at the VA Beach Club Opener, in Virginia Beach, VA., senior Gavin Schurr of Fairview High School moved into 2nd place in the boys 60 meter dash Colorado High School best list, with a time 6.73!!  He was first!!  He was first also in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.28!! This was a indoor meet.
