CTS Women’s Athletes of the Year after Colorado High School
This year the former Women Colorado High School Grads tore up the After High School CTS list! There were so many new and improvements to the top 10 list and the top 25! The following are the top CTS athletes of the year.
The #1 pick was Valarie Allman, (Silver Creek HS) throwing for Asics-NYAC dominate the women’s Discus Throw in the world! She was the Olympic GOLD METAL WINNER!! She also won the Diamond League Title!! Her best 2024 throw came at the US Olympic Trials at 232-7. She is the American Record Holder from 2022 with a monster throw of 234-5!
The #2 and #3 picks were very hard to come up with, however, Elise Cranny formally of Niwot HS and now running for Nike Track Club captured the #2 spot. Her 8:25.10 3000-meter run in late August produced an Outdoor American Record!! She was a 2024 Olympian in the 5000 meters. Her fastest 5000-meter time in 2024 came at the Olympic trials with a 14:40.36. Her PR 5k time is a 14:33.17 from 2022, an Indoor American Record!! A Couple more of her 2024 times came with a blazing 1500 meters, 3:57.87 (CTS #1) and a 2:02.90 800 meters. (2:00.25 PR). She holds six CTS #1’s!!
The #3 pick was Anna Hall, (Valor Christian HS) and now competing for Adidas Track Club. In an injury filled 2024 season, she still gathered the #3 spot. A 2024 Olympian in the Heptathlon she was able to place 5th (6615 Points). A far cry from her 6988 points in 2023. She still had some outstanding marks in 2024. She PR’ed in the Javelin Throw with a 150-10 a CTS #4, 6-2 1/4 High Jump (6-3 1/2 PR), and also a PR in the Shot Put 48-6 3/4. If she is injury free in 2025, Watch Out!!
Honorable Mention (in no special order)
Lauren Gale, Discovery Canyon HS/Canada Nation Team. CTS #1 400 meters 50.47, 22.85 +0.8w 200 meters (22.82 +1.0w PR), CTS #17 100 meters 11.55 +1.3w and a member of the Canada 4×400 Meter Relay that placed 6th at the 2024 Olympic Games (3:22.01), Abby Glynn, Mead HS/Colorado U. CTS #2 400-meter hurdles 55.31, CTS #3 400 meters 51.77, Simone Watkins, Denver East HS/Howard U. CTS #4 400-meter hurdles 55.92, Ashley Miller, Cherry Creek HS/Zimbabwe CTS #8 400-meter hurdles 56.63, Annalise Hart, Thunder Ridge HS/BYU #9 400-meter hurdles 57.07, Val Constien, Battle Mountain HS/Nike CTS #2 Steeple Chase 9:03.22, ran at the Olympic Trials for the right to go to the 2024 Olympic Games. That mark is the #3 all-time American Women!! The #2 (9:02.35) all-time American Emma Coburn Crested Butte HS/New Balance TC was injured for 2024 season. If she is ready to go in 2025, she should come back strong! Maggi Congdon, Steamboat HS/Northern Arizona U. CTS #2 1500 meters 4:02.79, CTS #10 800 meters 2:02.20, CTS #7 Mile 4;30.24, Gabriella McDonald/Morris, Colorado State U./Rocky Mountain HS CTS #2 Shot Put 61-2 3/4, 189-10 Discus Throw (196-0 PR), Kyairra Reigh, Denver East HS/Northern Arizona U. CTS #4 400 meters 52.19, Agur Dwal, Mullen HS/Oklahoma U. Triple Jump 42-8 +0.0w (42-8 1/4 PR), Taryn Burkett, Ft. Collins HS/Grand Canyon U. CTS #4 Triple Jump 42-3 1/2 +1.5w, Melody Nwagwu, Grandview HS/Cal Poly U. CTS #8 Triple Jump 42-0 +0.6w, Sadie McMullen, Valor Christian HS/Wyoming U. CTS #9 tie Long Jump 20-7 3/4i, Alex Hellenberg, Skyline HS/Unattached CTS #8 Pole Vault 13-5 1/4, Isabella Coscetti, Manitou Springs/Arkansas State U. #10 tie Pole Vault 13-0 3/4, Kaela Edwards, Littleton HS/Adidas TC 800 meters 2:01.53, (1;59.68 PR CTS #2), Amanda Opp, Lakewood HS/Colorado U. CTS #4 Hammer Throw 218-8, Giavonna Meeks, Northfield HS/Unattached CTS #6 Hammer Throw 216-10, Eleanor Fulton, Highlands Ranch HS/Unattached, all of Fulton’s PR’s come from previous years, however after starting later in 2024 she ran some credible times, 4:06.11 1500 meters, 4:24.87 mile, 2:01.42 800 meters and an 8:45.86 3000 meters.
