Constien off to the Olympics with Meet Record!!

Wow was day 5 of the US Olympic Trials busy for CTS athletes!!  Val Constien (Battle Mountain HS) running for Nike, set an Olympic Trials Meet Record in the Steeple’s very fast final.  Constien’s time of 9:03.22 for 1st was not just a meet record, it was the 3rd fastest time for an American female steeplechaser!!  Constien who was in the last Olympics in Japan, where she placed 12th in the final, CTS can bet her placement in this Paris Olympics will be much better than her last appearance.  Not to be outdone, American record holder in the Discus Throw (234-5) Valarie Allman (Silver Creek HS) throwing for ASICS/New York AC captured 1st place with a throw of 232-0, 25 feet farther than 2nd place and only 7 inches less than her meet record from the qualifying round last Monday.  Allman will be off to defend her Olympic Title of 2021.

Other former Colorado High Schoolers did very well in Day 5 of the Trials as well.  The following is a list of them that advanced to the next round or the final.  Elise Cranny (Niwot HS) advanced to the 1500 semi, Maggi Congdon (Steamboat Springs HS) advanced to the 1500 semi, Eleanor Fulton (Highlands Ranch HS) advanced to the 1500 semi, Abby Glynn (Mead HS) advanced to the 400-meter Hurdles semi, Simone Watkins (Denver East HS) advanced to the 400-meter Hurdles semi, William Kincaid (Columbine HS) advanced to the final in the 5000 meters, Parker Wolfe (Cherry Creek HS) advanced to the final in the 5000 meters.  Not only former Colorado High Schoolers did well at the Trials, but a current one, Scottie Vine of Debeque HS will be in the final of the High Jump.

More notable performances in Day 5 of the trials by CTS listers come from athletes that have the best T&F Colorado Soil marks.  Wes Ferguson Nebraska Kearney U. (1:45.56 800m #1 soil) advanced to the 800-meter semi, Cordell Tinch Nike (13.21 110mh #1 soil) advanced to the 110-meter Hurdles finals, Jasmine Jones Southern California U. (53.87 400mh #1 soil) advanced to the 400-meter Hurdles semi.  Other top-10 CTS Soil listers advancing to the next rounds, Cory Mcgee New Balance (4:33.39-mile #2 soil) advanced to the 1500-meter semi, Dani Jones New Balance (4:34.50-mile #4 soil) advanced to the 1500-meter semi, Turner Washington Unattached (70-3 3/4 shot put #2 soil) advanced to the Discus Throw final, Jadyn Mays Oregon U. (22.46 200 meters #5 soil, 11.01 100 meters #4 soil) advanced to the 200 meters semi, Jassani Carter Southern California U. (22.62 200 meters #7 soil) advanced to the 200 meters semi.

Former and current Colorado Collegiate CTS athletes advancing to the next rounds are, Sage Hurta Klecker former CU Buff advanced to the 1500-meter semi, current Adams State U. Gracie Hyde advanced to the 1500-meter semi, current CU Buff Cole Romig advanced to the 400-meter Hurdle semi.
