400-meter challenge from December 9th Blog
In December I decided to make a challenge to athletes and coaches to see how many could make the CTS top 25 lists. As of now (April 28th) here is how it sets.
In the CTS Soil List there is none as of yet, however with the NCAA II Championships in Pueblo 22-24 that will change, I am sure. To make the list, Women 52.42, Men 45.59.
In the CTS High School List there has been none as of late, however with League and the State meet in May that may change. It takes for the Girls 54.64 and Kiana Cummings junior of Windsor is the closest with 55.27. For the Boys it takes 47.25 and Gery Lockman junior of Poudre is the closest at 47.53. Peyton Summers of Cherokee Trail is the #6 fastest at 46.59 all time CTS, however he has just run once this year, 48.30. He may be hurt, hope not.
In the CTS After High School List there has been some movement. The leader here is Zander Cruzan of Cortez HS and running for Northern Colorado U. has put down a 45.97 which comes in at #10 on the list. Sebastian Jean of Rampart HS and running for CU Colorado Springs U. comes in at #14 with a 46.04. Tavon Underwood of Mead HS and competing for Kansas State U. is at #19 with a 46.17. Underwood has a 45.36 PR (#1 HS) from High school but has had some nagging injuries since HS. Leading contenders to make the list this year are, Kenny Greene of Cherokee Trail HS and now at Metro State U. with a 46.89 and Ashton Whistler of Erie HS now at CU Colorado Spring with a 47.00. Ace Malone of Castle View HS and is at Miami U. is #16 on the list with a 46.08. However, has only ran 46.42 this year. For the Men it takes 46.17 to make this list, which only as of now has 19 places. For the Women there has been some movement also. Ashley Miller of Cherry Creek HS and running for the country of Zimbabwe now and known for being a hurdler comes in at #6 with a 52.94. Maggie Congdon of Steamboat HS and attending Northern Arizona U. put down a 53.73 coming in at #17. Kaela Edwards of Littleton HS and running for Adidas TC comes in at #21, 53.83. Congdon and Edwards are 800/1500 specialist coming down in distance to make the list. Still running are the Top 4 on the CTS After HS list. Lauren Gale of Discovery Canyon HS and running for the country of Canada has run 51.03 this year. She is #1 on the list at 50.47. #2 on the all-time list (50.82) is Anna Hall of Valar Christian HS and competing for Adidas has run 52.64 so far this year. #3 on the list (51.77) is Abby Glynn of Mead HS and is running Unattached has run 52.78 this year but is concentrating more on the 400-meter hurdles. Now the #4 (52.19) all-time lister is Kyairra Reigh of Denver East HS and is running for Northern Arizona U. has run 53.16 this year so far. It takes 54.02 to make the CTS top25 After HS List. At this time, I see no new contenders to make the women’s list. I hope I am wrong.
In the Colorado Collegiate List, two that were in the After-HS List are here as well. Zander Cruzan comes in at #12 tie with his 45.97, and Sebastian Jean at #16 tie with his 46.04. Contenders to make the list are AJ Glavicic of Colorado U. at 46.65, Travis Turner of Colorado State U. 46.85 and Jonah Fallon of Colorado Mines at 47.01. It takes 46.42 to make this list.
